Women's Indoor Track and Field Places Second at Mid-February Meet

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team hosted the second and final home meet of the indoor season, the Mid-February Meet, on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW placed second out of 10 participating teams with 112 points. John Carroll University won the meet with 134.5 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Sophomore Katie Plecko (Rootstown) placed first in the 500-meter run in a time of 1:23.04.

Field event highlights:

  • Freshman Ava Eagle (Wooster) finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.85 meters.
  • Junior Lilly Johns (Garrettsville / James A. Garfield) finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 10.90 meters.

On the relay side:

  • In the 4x200 meter relay crew, Eagle, freshman Ilana Tucker (Wooster), sophomore Jessica Klonowski (Parma / Holy Name), and freshman Alanna Barnett (Sheffield Lake / Brookside) placed first in a time of 1:55.39.

Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) and junior All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) competed in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division l Boston University. 

  • Collier placed 25th of 231 sprinters in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.11, and 43rd of 216 sprinters in the 400-meter dash in a time of 56.93.
  • Murphy finished 122nd of 310 runners in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.80, and 132nd of 332 runners in the one mile run with a time of 4:55.99.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, Feb. 10 to compete in the All-Ohio Indoor Championships hosted by Otterbein University.
