Baldwin Wallace Women's Tennis Team Defeats Capital, 9-0, to Stay Unbeaten in the OAC

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University, 9-0, today (Friday, April 17, 2009) at the Columbus School for Girls in Bexley.

With its win, the BW women are now 8-9 overall, remain unbeaten in the OAC at 5-0 and have won eight of their last nine matches.  With its loss, Capital falls to 1-11 overall and 1-5 in the OAC.

In doubles play,  the duos of sophomores Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/Columbus Bishop Hartley) and Katy Marshall (Medina/Senior), freshman Jenny Greene (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and senior Academic All-OAC selection Alyssa Trampert (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park), and junior Andrea Essig (Conneaut/Ashtabula Edgewood) and sophomore Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/Green) all won.

In singles match-ups, number one singles player Pecinovsky, No. 2 Greene, No.3 Essig, No. 4 Pelosi, No. 5 Trampert, and No. 6 player Marshall all won in straight sets.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 18 when they host OAC rival Marietta College at the "Pop" Collins Courts in Berea at 9:00 a.m. The match will be followed by an Alumni Day event at 2:30 p.m.
