Baldwin Wallace University Women's Tennis Team Loses at National Powerhouse Kenyon, 8-1

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team lost to NCAA Division III powerhouse Kenyon College, 8-1, today (Saturday, February 21, 2009) at Kenyon in Gambier, Ohio.  With the loss, the Yellow Jackets are now 0-2 overall prior to their annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina from March 7-14.

 
Highlighting the match was a victory at number-one doubles as sophomore Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/ Columbus Bishop Hartley) and sophomore Katy Marshall (Medina/ Senior) defeated the Kenyon duo of No.1 singles player Prita Kidder and No.2 player Alexis Marino, 8-6.  In singles play, all six Yellow Jackets lost their matches in straight sets. The closest match was turned in by senior No.5 player Alyssa Trampert (Orchard Park, N.Y./ Orchard Park), who lost 7-6 (7-2) and 6-1.
 
In addition to their annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, the Yellow Jackets will open the 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference season on March 20 when they host Muskingum College at the "Pop" Collins Courts at 3:30 p.m. The 2009 OAC Tournament begins on April 30 at the Lindner Family Courts in Mason, Ohio.
