Baldwin Wallace University Freshman Jenny Greene is OAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University freshman number-two singles player Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) is this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her efforts in three Yellow Jacket wins.

 
In victories against OAC rival Muskingum College (9-0) and NAIA rivals Walsh University (7-2) and Malone University (9-0), Greene compiled a 3-0 singles mark at No.2 and had a 3-0 doubles record at No.2 with her partner, senior Alyssa Trampert (Orchard Park, N.Y./ Orchard Park).
 
In the win versus Muskingum inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center in Berea on March 20, Greene defeated Lynsey Fuller by the scores of 6-2 and 6-3 and teammaed with Trampert to win 8-4 at No.2 doubles. In the win at Walsh on March 21, she defeated Jennifer Yost, 6-4, 5-7 and 10-7 in the third-set tie-breaker and then teammed with Trampert to win 8-4 in doubles. In the win at Malone later that day, Greene beat Caroline Giammarco in a pro-set by an 8-1 score and teammed with Trampert to win 8-1 in doubles.  Overall, Greene won 32-of-59 games in singles and she and Trampert captured 24-of-33 games in doubles.
 
"Jenny had a solid week and really came through and played well for us in all three of her singles and doubles matches," said veteran Head Coach Jack Bethlenfalvy, who has led BW to the past two OAC titles and two straight berths in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
 
"Jenny is a great addition to our program," continued Bethlenfalvy. "She is an outstanding technician and an excellent student and athlete. We feel that she can be a key starter and leader for us for the next four years."
 
This week, the Yellow Jackets play away matches at NCAA Division II Ashland University on Friday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m. and at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Mount Union College on Saturday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m.  BW's next OAC match is at home on March 31 against OAC foe Heidelberg College.
