BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team earned its first victory of the season over Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum College, 9-0, today (Friday, March 20, 2009) inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.
With the win, BW improves to 1-8 overall and 1-0 in OAC play. Muskingum falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in OAC play.
BW was victorious in 72 of the 77 total games played.
In singles play, the Yellow Jacket women received wins from sophomore number-one player Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/ Columbus Bishop Hartley), freshman No. 2 Jenny Greene (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), junior No. 3 Andrea Essig (Conneaut/Astabula Edgewood), sophomore No. 4 Emily Peslosi (Uniontown/Green), senior No.5 player Alyssa Trampert (Orchard Park, N.Y./ Orchard Park), and sophomore No. 6 Katy Marshall (Medina/Senior).
In doubles play, number-one tandem of Pecinovsky and Marshall, No. 2 Greene and Trampert, and No. 3 Pelosi and Essig all won.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Canton, Ohio to play a doubleheader against Walsh University at 9:00 a.m. and then Malone College at 2:00 p.m. BW's next OAC match is at home on March 31 against OAC foe Heidelberg College. The 2009 OAC Tournament begins on April 30. The OAC Final Four is in Mason, Ohio on May 1-2 at the Lindner Family Courts.
