BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team lost to NCAA Division II Northern Kentucky, 8-1, today (Monday, March 9, 2009) in Hilton Head, South Carolina in the first match of its annual spring break trip.
The loss drops BW to 0-3 this season. With its victory, Northern Kentucky improves to 6-4 on the campaign.
In doubles action, the duo of sophomores Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/Columbus Bishop Hartley) and Katy Marshall (Medina/Senior) won in the first doubles slot over NKU's Stephanie Isaacs and Jillian Sturgeon, 8-6.
In singles play, sophomore number four player Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/Green) took NKU's Jenny Hand to a third set super tiebreaker, losing the first set 6-3, before rallying to win the second set 6-0. Pelosi lost in the super tiebreaker 10-4.
BW continues its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina from March 8-14. The Yellow Jackets open the 2008 OAC season on March 20 when they host Muskingum College at the "Pop" Collins Courts at 3:30 p.m. The 2009 OAC Tournament begins on April 30 at the Lindner Family Courts in Mason, Ohio.
