Winters Earns All-American Accolades on Day Two of NCAA Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – Sophomore All-American, Ohio Athletic Conference Sprinter of the Year and Great Lakes Region Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls earned All-American honors and led two other Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field athletes on day two of the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

Winters, who competed in her final two events on Friday, earned her first career outdoor All-American honor as she placed fourth in the high jump with a school record tying leap of five feet and eight inches.   She also ran a time of 14.28 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.

In addition, senior Victoria Brown (Berlin Center/Western Reserve) finished 12th in the high jump with jump of 5'4.5". Sophomore All-American and OAC Field Athlete of the Year Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston), who compete in her first of two events, finished 21st in the shot put with a throw of 41'4.5".

The third and final day of the NCAA Championships is set for Saturday, May 23.  The Yellow Jacket competitors in the women's discus.
