Winters Garners Second OAC Weekly Field Athlete Honor of Season and Career

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University  pentathlete Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week.  This marks the second time this season and in her career that she takes home the weekly honor.

Winters won the long jump and reset two school records at the unscored Kent State University Tune-Up Meet that featured athletes from all divisions of the NCAA.  She won the long jump (with a school-record leap of 19-feet and three and one-quarter inches (19'3.25"), which ranks her second in Division III. In adidition, Winters placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.02 seconds.  She reset her own school record and stands fifth in Division III with an 8.91-second timing in a preliminary heat.

To date, Winters currently ranks sixth in Division III in the five-event pentathlon with a school-record 3,488 points, 41st in the 60-meter dash (7.92 seconds) and 42nd in the high jump (5'3.75").

The Yellow Jacket indoor track and field teams travel to Alliance on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1 to compete in the OAC Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union. The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15 in the Devaney Sports Center on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University.
