MEADVILLE, Pa. – Several members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Gator Invitational hosted by Allegheny College. This was the first of several last chance meets for the Yellow Jacket athletes to improve on their NCAA marks or to qualify for the NCAA National Meet.
The Yellow Jacket women were led by sophomore All-American Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Kenston) she won the shot put with a season-best throw of 44'9.75" and was fifth in the hammer with a mark of 156'4". Gallavan's mark in the shot is currently the 14th best in NCAA Division III.
In addition to Gallavan in the field events, sophomore Maggie Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) won the hammer throw with a mark of 167'3". Senior Victoria Brown (Berlin Center/Western Reserve) was second in the high jump with a leap of 5'3". Freshman Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/Western Reserve) finished fourth in the discus with a mark of 129'2".
In the running events, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC middle distance runner Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) was fourth in the 800-meter run as she crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 2:15.62. Senior Nicole Smith (Geneva) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.00.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Monday, May 12 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to compete in the Ron Althoff Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The NCAA Division III Championships are on May 22-24 at Ohio Wesleyan.
