Two BW Women Compete on First Day of NCAA Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – Two Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field athletes competed on day one of the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

Sophomore Maggie Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) led the BW as she finished 14th in her first appearance at the national meet in the hammer with a throw of 164 feet and 10 inches.

In addition, sophomore All-American, Ohio Athletic Conference Sprinter of the Year and Great Lakes Region Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls, who competed in two of her four events placed 20th in the long jump with leap of  17'2.25.   She also ran a time of 24.81 seconds in the 200-meter.

The second day of the NCAA Championships is set for Friday, May 23.  The Yellow Jacket competitors will compete in the finals of the decathlon and the women's high jump and shot put along with qualifying events in the men's 100-meter dash and the women's 100-meter hurdles.
