BW Tracksters Compete at UNC-Charlotte Meet

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the annual University of North Carolina Charlotte 49er Invitational Meet.  This is the seond meet of the outdoor season.  The meet was unscored, and it was chalked full of Division one universities such as Indiana, and Clemson.   

The Yellow Jacket women were led by sophmore All-American Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Chagrin Falls Kenston) who placed fifth in the hammer throw with a career-best throw of 158'10" and sixth in the discus with a career-best toss of 137'10" 

In addition, sophomore All-American Melanine Winter (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 18'10" and 13th in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.53 seconds; senior distance runner Blair Vrcan (Mentor) was ninth and ran a personal-best of 12.00.10 in the 3000-meter steeplechase; and sophomore thrower Maggie Urban placed 12th in the hammer throw with a career-best throw of 142'10".  

Next Saturday, March 29, BW travels to Marietta, Ohio to compete in the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Split Squad Meet.  Field events begin at 11:00 a.m.
