BW's Ariel Brough and Amanda Schroeder Named Academic All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball senior center Ariel Brough (Powell/ Olentangy Liberty) and junior forward Amanda Schroeder (Columbus Grove) have been named as 2010 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference student-athletes. Brough was tabbed Academic All-OAC andSchroeder was named to the honorable mention group.

In addition to her Academic All-OAC accolade, Brough has been awarded the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA/ www.wbca.org) Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship and will receive the award at the annual WBW Convention during the NCAA Division I Final Four Weekend, April 2-6 in San Antonio, Texas. She also was named a 2010 ESPN THE MAGAZINE third-team Academic All-American. She currently maintains a 3.97 grade point average in political science, is a three-time first-team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV pick, a three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference choice and a two-time All-OAC choice.Brough is a Dean's List student and member of a number of academic honoraries on campus.

On the court, Brough had her best season in 2009-10 as she ranked second on the team in scoring at 10.9 points per game and led the squad with 6.8 rebounds per game. She also was second in the OAC with 66 blocked shots. In 113 career games, Brough totaled 862 points, 657 rebounds to rank seventh all-time and had a school-record 236 blocked shots to also rank second all-time in OAC history. She was been a part of 87 wins (87-26 overall) with one OAC regular season and one OAC Tournament championship and two NCAA Division III national postseason berths.

As a junior in 2009-2010, Schroeder played her third season of basketball and earned her third letter.  She is a team captain who was named to the all-tournament team at the season-opening University of Rochester (N.Y.) Chuck Resler tourney and the Most Valuable Player of the 2009 BW Holiday Invitational.

Schroeder led the team in scoring with a career-high 14.5 ppg., was third with a career-high 5.1 rpg. and led the team with a career-high 31 steals. She also had 28 three-pointers, 45 assists and blocked a career-high 17 shots. Schroeder scored a career-high 27 points in an 80-78 overtime loss to Case Western Reserve on Nov. 24, 2009. She was named the OAC Player of the Week on January 11. In addition, Schroeder was named first-team All-OAC for the second consecutive year and as an honorable mention Academic All-OAC student-athlete.
