BW Women's Basketball Senior Ariel Brough Named ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-American

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball senior student-athlete Ariel Brough(Powell/Olentangy Liberty) has been named a 2010 ESPN THE MAGAZINE third-team Academic All-American.

Brough, a 6'2" center and team captain, maintains an outstanding 3.97 grade point average in political science. She plans to attend graduate school this fall. 

Prior to her Academic All-America nod, she was a three-time first-team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV pick, a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference choice (the 2009-10 team has not yet been selected) and earned All-OAC honors for her play a year ago. She is a Dean�s List student and member of a number of academic honoraries on campus.

On the court, Brough is having her best season, ranking second on the team at 10.7 points per game and leading the squad at 6.7 rebounds per game. She also is second in the OAC with 59 blocked shots.

In 111 career games, Brough has totaled 835 points, 642 rebounds and a school-record 229 blocks. She has been a part of 86 (86-25) wins and an OAC regular season and tournament championship.

Brough and the Yellow Jackets are in action tonight (Tuesday, February 23) in the quarterfinal round of the OAC Tournament. The third-seeded Jackets hosts Cleveland cross-town rival and #6-seed John Carroll University at 7:30 p.m. at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.

Baldwin Wallace University has a rich tradition of excellence in the classroom and on the athletic areas with 79 student-athletes now having been chosen as Academic All-Americans since the programs inception in 1972.
