Baldwin Wallace Women Beat Muskingum, 65-52, in New Concord for 17th Victory

BEREA, OHIO --  Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference center Ariel Brough (Powell/ Olentangy Liberty) and junior All-OAC guard Amanda Schroeder (Columbus Grove) each scored 18 points as the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum University, 65-52, today (Saturday, February 13, 2010) in the Muskingum HPER Center in New Concord.

With their win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 17-6 overall, 13-3 in the OAC and end a brief, two-game losing streak. With their loss, the Fighting Muskies fall to 8-15 overall and 3-13 in the OAC.

In addition to Brough and Schroeder for BW, freshman guard Olivia French (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) chipped in with 12 points and junior guard Ali Stack (Vermilion/ Firelands) had 10. Muskingum was led by sophomore forward Hannah Nelson with a game-high 32 points.

In the first half, the Fighting Muskies jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the 18:45 mark when Nelson made a jump shot. The Yellow Jackets then outscored Muskingum 13-8 to tie the game at 13-13 with 10:07 left when Brough made a layup. After the score was tied at 15-15, Muskingum regained a four-point lead at 19-15 with 8:33 left before the intermission when sophomore center Amanda Dobbins made a layup. The remainder of the half was all BW as the Yellow Jackets outscored the Fighting Muskies 18-8 to take a 33-27 lead at halftime.
