BW Men’s Soccer Stumbles in Overtime to Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio --- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team was defeated by the University of Mount Union by a final score of 2-1 in overtime in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, Mount Union (10-8, 5-3 OAC) in the 53rd minute opened the scoring when sophomore defender Ryan Kissinger buried a shot into the back of the net off the assist from senior defender Travis Connor.

The Yellow Jackets (6-10-3, 4-4 OAC) knotted the game at 1-1 when junior midfielder Ben Deighton (Richfield/Revere) scored on the penalty kick in the 65 minute.

The Purple Raiders won the game in the 91st minute when Kevin Blackley knocked in the loose ball on the corner kick from junior midfielder Jack Weber.

In goal for BW, sophomore Zach Haynes (Medina) made his second start of season and faced 15 shots, including five on-goal, allowed two goals and made three saves. Haynes now a record of 0-3-1.

The Yellow Jackets outshot Mount Union by a 21-15 count but the Purple Raider held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.

BW ends its regular season on Saturday, November 2 when it hosts Marietta College on Seniors' and Parents Day.  The second game of the men's and women's OAC soccer doubleheader kicks off at 3:30 p.m.   Fans can watch the game via live video at http://www.bwyellowjackets.com/sports/msoc/2013-14/videos/marietta.
