Bahrami Scores Game-Winner As BW Defeats Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio --  Senior defender Ashkon Bahrami (Newark) scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute as the Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeats host Heidelberg University, 2-1, in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at Mayer Field.

With its win, BW (5-7-3, 3-1 OAC) opened the scoring in the 19th minute mark when junior midfielder Michael Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) scored off of an assist from senior forward Andrew Preis (Mentor). It was the team-leading sixth goal of the season for Brennan and the second assist for Preis.
 
Heidelberg (8-4, 2-2 OAC) answered back in the 27th mintue when Christopher Koczak headed the rebound shout off crossbar into the net to even th score at 1-1.  

Bahrami scored the game-winner off a deflection in the 85th minute to give BW the victory. 
 
In goal for the Yellow Jackets, senior Tyler Beaton (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) faced 21 shots, including four on-goal, allowed one goal and made three saves and improved to 5-6-2.

The Student Princes outshot  BW by a 21-11 count but the Yellow Jackets had a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.

BW is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when it hosts Wilmington College in the second game of a men's and women's OAC soccer doubleheader on the Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The women play at 4:30 p.m.
