Yellow Jackets and Spartans Play To Draw in Men’s Soccer

BEREA -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team and Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University played to a 1-1 tie in the home-opener for the Yellow Jackets on Tressel Field.

BW (2-1-2) scored the first goal of the game when sophomore forward Aaron Harden (Mentor) scored his first career goal off the corner kick and assist from junior midfielder Michael Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) in the 47th minute.

The Spartans (1-0-3) tied the game at 1-1 when Brandon White headed in the loose ball in the 74th minute.

In goal senior Tyler Beaton (Bemus Point, N.Y./ Maple Grove) faced 28 shots, including nine on-goal, allowed one goal and made eight saves and is now 2-1-2 overall.

Case outshot BW by an 28-14 count, and had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

BW next travels to Grove City, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 14 to take on Grove City College in the second game of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader at 3:30 p.m.  The women's team kicks off at 1 p.m.  The next home game is on Tuesday, September 17 when the team hosts Allegheny (Pa.) College in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
