BEREA, Ohio -- Two Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer student-athletes, senior Judson Sprandel (Akron /Green) and junior Trey Arney (Coshocton) have been named either All-Ohio and/ or Academic All-Ohio by the Ohio College Soccer Association (OCSA).

"We are extremely proud of Judson and Trey," said 12th-year Head Coach Reid Ayers.  "Each is an outstanding student-athlete.  Each excells in the classroom, on the field and off as a team leader.  Both are extremely deserving of each honor they receive.  They are great representatives of Baldwin Wallace University and our soccer program, and are great role models for our younger student-athletes to emulate."

Sprandel was named honorable mention All-East Region and second-team Academic All-Ohio. The four-year starting defender helped BW to a 7-11-3 mark this fall and a 42-30-11 slate the past four years. The biology and chemistry double-major carries an outstanding 3.93 grade point average.  As a senior, Sprandel played and started in all 21 matches, took 20 shots, including five on-goal, and had one assist.

During his career, he appeared in 68 matches (missing 15 due to injuries) and BW allowed just 1.16 goals-per-game with 20 shutouts. Sprandel took 55 shots, including 19 on-goal, and had two assists. He ended his career as a three-time Academic All-OAC, two-time Academic All-Ohio and two-time CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 selection.

Arney was named third-team All-Ohio and second-team Academic All-Ohio as a defender.  He has been a starter the past three seasons and a key on a defense has recorded 16 shutouts the past three years. This fall, he played in and started all 21 matches, took nine shots, including six on-goal, and scored one goal for two points.

To date, the All-OAC and Academic All-OAC selection has played in 56 matches, including 48 starts, took 29 shots, including 14 on goal and scored four goals. Arney, who carries a 3.52 grade point average in biology, also was BW"s Co-Rookie of the Year as a freshman.
