BW Men’s Soccer Defeated by Oberlin in Non-Conference Finale

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team fell to Oberlin College by a score of 2-0 in the final non-conference game of the season on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium.

Oberlin (7-1-2) opened the scoring in the 51st minute when sophomore midfielder Slade Gotleib buried a shot in the upper 90 off the assist from freshman midfielder Nick Wertman.  The Yeomen pushed their lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute when sophomore midfielder Louis Naiman took the free kick and sophomore midfielder John Ingham headed it into the net.

In goal for BW (2-6-3), senior Tyler Beaton (Beamus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) faced 11 shots, including six on goal, allowed two goals and made four saves. Beaton now has a record of 2-5-2.

The Yellow Jackets outshot Oberlin by a 17-11count and also had an 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

BW is back in action on Saturday, October 5 when it opens Ohio Athletic Conference play against Otterbein University in the second game of men's and women's doubleheader at 7 p.m.  The women's game is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.  Fans can watch the game via the internet at http://www.bwyellowjackets.com/sports/msoc/2013-14/videos/otterbein.
