BW Men’s Soccer Team Shut Out at OAC Leader John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio --- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference leader and cross-town rival John Carroll University, 2-0, in an OAC match on Wasmer Field at Don Shula Stadium. 

The Blue Streaks (13-2, 6-0 OAC) opened the scoring in the 36th minute when sophomore midfielder Shaq Bridges recorded his first goal of the season off the cross from junior midfielder Brian Potocnik.

In the 89th minute, John Carroll added to its lead at 2-0 when senior forward Mariusz Trzeciak put the ball in the lower 90 off the double assist from senior midfielder Nathan Sharbaugh and Bridges.

In goal for BW (6-8-3, 4-2 OAC), senior Tyler Beaton (Bemus Point, N.Y./Maple Grove) faced 23 shots, including 12 on goal, allowed two goals and made 10 saves as his record fell to 6-7-2 this season.

The Blue Streaks outshot the Yellow Jackets by a 23-3 count and had an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.

BW is back in action on Saturday, October 26 when it travels to Bexley to play Capital University in the second game of a men's and women's OAC soccer doubleheader at Bernlohr Stadium at 4 p.m. The women's game kicks off at 2 p.m.  The next home match is on Tuesday, October  29 when the Yellow Jackets host the University of Mount Union in on Tressel Field in The George Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.
