Four Men’s Soccer Student-Athletes Named Academic All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO – Four Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2011 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference squad announced today (Wednesday, November 23, 2010). 

Senior midfielder defender Sean Maloney (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) and junior midfielder Pat Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) were selected to the Academic All-OAC team and junior defender Tommy Kramer (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and sophomore defender Judson Sprandel (Akron/Green) were tabbed as honorable mention.

Maloney, a senior finance major, ended a strong four-year career and helped B-W to compile a 52-21-6 record. Individually, he has appeared in 36 career matches, took six shots and was credited with two assists. During his four seasons on the varsity, B-W recorded 30 shutouts, including six this season.  He also is a solid student who carries a 3.64 grade point average. Maloney is a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries and Dean's List. 

Brennan, who carries a 3.7 grade point average in B-W's 3:2 Master's of Business Administration in Accounting Program, is one of the best midfielders in NCAA Division III soccer.  The two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and 2010 Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District selection has helped B-W to win 41 matches in his first three seasons. Individually, he has appeared in 61 matches, taken 129 shots, including 61 on-goal, scored 19 goals and added 16 assists for 54 career points. He was B-W's "Rookie of the Year" in 2009 and has twice earned OAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week accolades.  Brennan is a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries and Dean's List. 

Kramer, a junior accounting major with a 3.3 grade point average is earning his first Academic All-OAC honor. He appeared in 20 games and scored a career-high tying two goals   Kramer also was part of  a Yellow Jacket defense that allowed only 24 goals for a 1.07 goals per game average and posted six shutouts. As a sophomore, he was selected to the SUNY-Fredonia All-Tournament team as B-W won the tournament. Kramer is an active member in the Accounting Association and Students in Free Enterprise

Sprandel carries an outstanding 3.97 grade point average in biology and pre-med and is a 2011 CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District IV selection. He helped anchor a defense that allowed only 24 goals for a 1.07 goals per game average and posted six shutouts. Sprandel  has appeared in 37 career matches, taken 30 shots, including 13 on-goal, with one assist. In his first two seasons in the Brown & Gold, he has helped B-W to win 28 matches and record 12 shutouts.  Academically, Sprandel is a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society, Dean's List and the B-W Bio League and Pre-Med Club.
