Men’s Soccer Team Beats Muskingum, 1-0

NEW CONCORD, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team defeated host Muskingum University, 1-0, this afternoon (Saturday, October 29, 2011) in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at Muskie Field.  

The match also had implications on next week's OAC Tournament.  B-W will go into the tournament as the third seed and host a quarterfinal match on Monday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. against either Capital University, the University of Mount Union or Wilmington College depending on the outcome of today's other contests.  The semifinals will be played on Wednesday, November 2 at the sites of the two highest remaining seeded teams. The 2011 OAC Championship Match will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the site of the highest remaining seed.

With its win, B-W enters the OAC Tournament at 15-4 overall and 6-3 in the league.  Muskingum ends its regular season at 7-11-1 overall and 2-6-1 in the OAC.

The only goal of the match came at the 71:00 mark when Yellow Jacket 3-time All-OAC senior forward Carlin Vandendriessche (Medina/ Senior) scored his school career-record 44 goal via an assist from freshman defender Vince Milner (Mayfield).

B-W outshot Muskingum, 28-15, and outcornered the Muskies, 11-10.

The winner of the OAC Tournament receives the OAC's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
