Pestello and Logan’s Double-Doubles Propels Men’s Basketball Past Wilmington

BEREA, Ohio – Freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) and junior forward Jarred Logan (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) each recorded a double-double as the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team defeated Wilmington College in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 68-62 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (5-10, 2-6 OAC) was led by Pestello as he scored a game-high tying 16 points and grabbed a game-best tying 10 rebounds. Logan contributed 14 points and grabbed a game-high tying 10 rebounds.

Wilmington (6-9, 2-6 OAC) was led by junior guard/forward Rashid Chisholm as he scored a game-best tying 16 points.  Senior forward Matthew Dugue grabbed a game-high tying 10 rebounds.

1st Half (BW, 34-25)

  • The Yellow Jackets took an early 13-9 lead on a layup by freshman forward Andrew Griffith (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) at the 15:29 mark.
  • The Quakers cut the lead down to 16-14 on layup by Chisholm at 12:34
  • BW went on an 11-4 run to take a 27-18 lead on a layup by Pestello at the 6:43 mark
  • Each team scored seven points down the stretch  

2nd Half (BW, 68-62)

  • The Yellow Jackets opened the second half on a 5-0 run to take a 39-25 lead on a jumper by sophomore guard Landon Potopsky (Dover/Strasburg) at the 19:36 mark
  • Each team scored six points of the next five minutes with the last coming on a layup by BW senior forward Rob Watson III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) at 14:49 to make the score 45-31
  • Wilmington went on an 8-2 run to cut the lead down to 47-39 on a dunk by freshman guard Carson Miles at the 12:34 mark
  • The Yellow Jackets pushed their lead to 54-46 on a layup by sophomore guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) at 8:04
  • The Quakers cut the lead down to 60-59 on a layup by junior guard Domenic Farley at 2:50
  • BW outscored Wilmington 6-3 down the stretch

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, January 17 when it travels to Tiffin for an OAC game against Heidelberg University in the Seiberling Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
