Men's Basketball Not Enough For No. 14 Mount Union's Second Half Surge

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell to No. 14 nationally ranked University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup by a score of 70-56 in Timken Gymnasium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

BW Leaders (4-8, 1-4 OAC)

  • Freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) tallied 17 points, seven rebounds, two blocks, and two steals
  • Sophomore guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) recorded his fourth double-double of the season by scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds
  • Senior Academic All-OAC guard Luke Driscoll (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) added five points after missing the past four games
  • Senior guard Lian Levesque (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) scored a season-high five points
Mount Union Leaders (11-1, 4-1 OAC)
  • Senior guard Christian Parker finished with a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds
  • Sophomore guard Corey Hudson added 18 points for the Purple Raiders
  • Junior guard Michael Skeriotis scored eight points 

First Half (UMU 31-30)

  • Ellington grabbed seven boards with his nine points while Pestello added eight points
  • Parker led the Purple Raiders with 14 points
  • The Brown and Gold outshot Mount Union from the field 39.4% to 34.5%
  • BW scored 20 of their 30 points in the paint
  • Mount Union took a one point lead into the half after 10 lead changes

Second Half (UMU 70-56)

  • Mount Union scored eight straight early in the half to jump out to a 39-30 lead
  • Sophomore guard Brayden Hamilton (Brunswick) had three steals
  • The Yellow Jackets forced eight Mount Union turnovers
  • BW went on a late 12-8 run but it was not enough to lift the Yellow Jackets before time expired

The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 6 as they host an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Marietta College in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 2 p.m.
