Two Jackets Notch Career Bests, Men's Basketball Falls To No. 2 John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team was defeated in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against cross-town rival No. 2 nationally ranked John Carroll University by a score of 102-70 on Mike Moran Court in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

BW Leaders (5-15, 2-11 OAC)

  • Sophomore guard Myles Reynolds (Cleveland/St. Edward) was BW's leading scorer and recorded a career-best 20 points by shooting 80% from the field and going 3-3 from three
  • Senior guard Lian Levesque (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) also had a career-best 11 points going 4-6 from the field including 3-5 from deep
  • Freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) finished with 15 points, three rebounds, and three blocks

John Carroll Leaders (19-1, 13-0 OAC)

  • Junior guard Luke Frazier scored a game-high 23 points and also grabbed four rebounds
  • Junior forward Henry Raynor finished with 18 points and nine boards
  • Junior guard Luke Chicone led the Blue Streaks with 21 points

First Half (JCU, 54-30)

  • BW jumped out to an early lead thanks to two early buckets from Reynolds and Pestello
  • Levesque drilled two of his three three pointers on the night just minutes apart
  • Pestello swatted three shots tying a career-best
  • The Yellow Jackets shot 50% from beyond the arch

Second Half (JCU, 102-70)

  • Freshman guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) grabbed three of his four rebounds on the night
  • With four minutes left to play, sophomore guard Brayden Hamilton (Brunswick) banged a three in his first game back from injury
  • The Yellow Jackets assisted nine times to the Blue Streaks' seven
  • The Brown and Gold defense forced five turnovers and tallied three steals

The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Saturday, February 3 as they travel to Westerville for an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Otterbein University in the Rike Center at 1 p.m.
