Men's Basketball Takes Down Ohio Northern in Morgan's Message Game

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team defeated Ohio Northern University by a score of 90-85 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup and Morgan's Message game in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

At halftime, the team dedicated the game to Morgan's Message which strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics. 

BW Leaders (6-16, 3-9 OAC)

  • Junior forward Jarred Logan (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) led the way for BW with a career-best 23 points while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out three assists
  • Sophomore guard Landon Potopsky (Dover/Strasburg) also had a night for the Yellow Jackets scoring 12 points and adding four rebounds
  • Sophomore guard Myles Reynolds (Cleveland/St. Edward) scored in double-figures for the fourth straight game finishing with 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds
  • Senior Academic All-OAC guard Luke Driscoll (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) tallied 10 points on 5-7 shooting

ONU Leaders (11-11, 6-9 OAC)

  • Freshman forward Cayden Jacoby led the Polar Bears with a game-high 24 points
  • Junior guard Blake Michael grabbed eight rebounds and finished sith eight points
  • Sophomore guard Will Miller added 16 points

First Half (ONU 40-38)

  • Reynolds scored nine points shooting 75% from the field
  • The Brown and Gold scored 19 points off the bench led by Hamilton and Logan with six each
  • Baskerville IV drained a three to get the scoring started for the Yellow Jackets
  • BW held the lead for nearly 13 minutes of the half
  • ONU scored 26 of their 40 points in the paint
  • A quick five point run with a minute left allowed the Polar Bears to take a two-point lead into the half

Second Half (BW 90-85)

  • Logan caught fire with 17 points
  • Logan flushed a fast break dunk to tie things up at the 13 minute mark
  • Senior forward Rob Watson III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) added to the scoring becoming the ninth Jacket to score on the night
  • Both teams traded buckets tying things at 85 with a minute left to play
  • Sophomore guard Brayden Hamilton (Brunswick) drilled a clutch three with 53 seconds left to give BW the 88-85 lead
  • Reynolds sealed the BW victory with a pair of late free throws

The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Saturday, February 10 as they travel to Wilmington for an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Wilmington College on Hermann Court inside Fred Raizk Arena at 2 p.m.
