Men’s Basketball Earns Third Straight NABC Academic Excellence Award, Two Student-Athletes Named to Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team has been recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) with a Team Academic Excellence award for the third consecutive year while two student-athletes have been named to the Honors Court.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs and student-athletes from all levels of college basketball that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

BW, who was one of 360 programs to earn the honor, finished the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.233 grade point average. 

Senior guard Luke Driscoll (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) and senior forward Rob Watson III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) were two of the 2,100 student-athletes to be recognized.

Driscoll, who garners his second straight accolade, carried a 3.972 grade point average in sport management.  This season, he appeared in 20 games with nine starts.  Driscoll scored a career-high 132 points, grabbed career-best 68 rebounds, dished out a career-high 33 assists, had a career-best 19 steals and blocked four shots.  For his career, Driscoll appeared in 77 games with 14 starts.   He scored 398 points, grabbed 177 rebounds, dished out 94 assists, made 51 steals and blocked 12 shots.   Off the court, Driscoll was a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller honoraries.

Watson III, who earns his second career honor, carried a 3.557 grade point average in sport management.  This season, he appeared in 19 games with 10 starts.  Watson III scored 106 points, grabbed 62 rebounds, dished out nine assists, had a career-high 10 steals and blocked 17 shots.  For his career, Watson III appeared in 73 games with 14 starts.  He scored 299 points, grabbed 191 rebounds and tallied 50 blocks, 39 assists and 26 steals.   Off the court, Watson III was an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Lambda Pi Eta honoraries.

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2023-24 campaign with an overall record of 6-19 and a 3-15 mark in the OAC.
