Men's Basketball Falls to Transylvania (Ky.) in Don Lane Classic Championship Game

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team was defeated in the Don Lane Classic championship game against hosting Transylvania (Ky.) University by a score of 87-64 in the Clive M. Beck Center.

BW Leaders (4-7)

  • Freshman guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) finished with a statline of 12 points and seven assists
  • Sophomore guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) scored 23 points giving him 51 total points in the Don Lane Classic and an average of 25.5 a game
  • The front court duo of freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) and senior forward Rob Watson III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) each recorded eight points

Transylvania Leaders (8-2)

  • Senior guard Jaylan Green led the way with 30 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double
  • Junior guard Colby Napier scored 18 points with 12 of those from beyond the arch
  • Junior forward Hunter Penn finished with 12 points

First Half (BW 42-36)

  • Ellington and Baskerville IV led BW with 14 and 10 points respectively
  • Pestello grabbed five of his team-high eight rebounds
  • Green scored 12 of his 30 on the day
  • The Brown and Gold were ahead for 19 minutes of the half and led by as much as 12 points
  • The Yellow Jackets owned the glass outrebounding the Pioneers 19-13
  • Transylvania forced 10 turnovers while only recording four

Second Half (Transylvania 87-64)

  • Green added another 18 points while Ellington gave BW nine 
  • Pestello recorded two blocks
  • The Pioneers tied the game at 50 with 13:18 left in the contest
  • BW shot 27% from the field after shooting 58% in the first half
  • Transylvania scored 13 straight at the end of the game leading them to a 23 point victory
