Ellington Earns First Career OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University sophomore guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Ellington receives the accolade after scoring a career-high 28 points and grabbing seven rebounds leading BW to a victory over East Texas Baptist University in the Don Lane Classic opener hosted by Transylvania (Ky.) University in Lexington, Ky. He then added 23 points and seven rebounds in the Don Lane Classic Championship Game against Transylvania giving him a total of 51 points and an average of 25.5 points per game on the weekend.

This season, Ellington has appeared and started in 11 games playing 396 minutes. He leads the OAC with a career-high 252 points and 22.9 points per game. Ellington is also third in the OAC in rebounds with 91 and rebounds per game with 8.3. He has also dished out 12 assists, has eight steals, and made five blocks.

In his career, Ellington has appeared in 29 games and has made 15 starts. He has tallied 379 points, 148 rebounds, 27 assists, 16 steals, and 13 blocked shots.

The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 3 as they travel to Alliance to take on the University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup in Timken Gymnasium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex at 7 p.m.
