BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team was taken down by No. 18 nationally ranked University of Mount Union by a score of 100-68 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW Leaders (5-13, 2-9 OAC)
- Freshman guard Nick Timberlake (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) drilled four three pointers for a team-high and career-high 12 total points
- Senior forward Rob Watson III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) finished with 10 points
- Freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds
- Sophomore guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) also added 10 points for the Yellow Jackets
Mount Union Leaders (15-3, 8-3 OAC)
- The OAC's leading scorer, senior forward Christian Parker, finished with a double-double and a statline of 32 points and 11 rebounds
- Senior guard Collen Gurley was the only other Purple Raider in double figures with 15 points
- Sophomore guard Corey Hudson registered eight assists
First Half (Mount Union, 49-39)
- Pestello and Ellington led the way for BW as they both shot 4-6 from the field and tallied nine and eight points, respectively
- Parker scored 17 of the Purple Raiders' 49 points and grabbed six rebounds
- Seven different Yellow Jackets scored including 19 total points off the bench
- Mount Union scored 15 straight points midway through the half but BW kept it a 10-point game going into the intermission
- The Brown and Gold defense caused six turnovers and grabbed four steals
Second Half (Mount Union, 100-68)
- Timberlake hit BW's only three pointers in the half
- Pestello grabbed three of his five rebounds
- The Purple Raiders shot 59.4% from the field
- The BW bench continued to impact the game with 23 points
- Freshman guard Maxx Dickinson (Medina/Brunswick) scored his first collegiate field goal making him the tenth Yellow Jacket to score on the night
The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 27 as they host an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Capital University in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7 p.m.
