Men’s Basketball Falls Short Against Marietta

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell in the second half of an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Marietta College by a score of 69-55 in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW Leaders (4-9, 1-5 OAC)

  • Sophomore guard Myles Reynolds (Cleveland/St. Edward) led the Yellow Jackets with 12 points
  • Freshman guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) added 10 points and three assist
  • Junior forward Jarred Logan (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) finished with a statline of nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, and four steals
  • Freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) also tallied 10 points

Marietta Leaders (11-2, 5-1 OAC)

  • Senior forward Sahmi Willoubhby recorded a 13 point, 11 rebound double-double
  • Junior guard De'Ovion Price scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds
  • Sophomore forward Frank Waganfeald finished with 10 points and nine rebounds while Senior guard David Sanford also added 10 points

First Half (BW 31-24)

  • Reynolds got things started with 10 points
  • Logan grabbed five of his eight rebounds
  • Freshman forward Andrew Griffith (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) scored a career-high five points 
  • The Brown and Gold defense forced nine turnovers and held the Pioneers to a 22% shooting percentage from the field
  • BW scored 18 points in the paint and 12 points off turnovers
  • The Yellow Jackets led Marietta for nearly 16 minutes of the half

Second Half (Marietta 69-55)

  • Logan and Pestello each scored six points 
  • Price scored nine of his 11 points on the day
  • The Pioneers quickly tied things up at 35 five minutes into the half
  • Logan had all three of the Yellow Jackets' steals
  • BW kept it close throughout the half until Marietta went on a 17-6 run in the last eight minutes of the game

The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 10 as they travel to Ada for an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center at 7 p.m.
