Men's Basketball Falls to Capital

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team was defeated by Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup by a score of 94-63 in Performance Arena inside the Capital Center.

BW Leaders (2-5, 1-2 OAC)

  • Sophomore guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) led BW scoring a collective 16 points and grabbed six rebounds
  • Freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) totaled 10 points 
  • Sophomore guard Landon Potopsky (Dover/Strasburg) added nine points for the Yellow Jackets
  • Freshman guard Caden Madigan (Wadsworth) had a career-high six points in 
  • Senior forward Rob Watson III (Nordonia/Sagamore Hills) scored three points in his season debut for the Brown and Gold

Capital Leaders (8-2, 2-1 OAC)

  • Sophomore guard McKane Finkenbine was the leading scorer with 19 total points 
  • Junior forward Ryan Suever added 14 points
  • Freshman forward Baden Forup had 10 rebounds along with 14 points

First Half (Capital 44-29)

  • Forup had the first points of the game with a layup for the Comets
  • Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Luke Driscoll (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) and Pestello gave the Yellow Jackets their last lead of the game going up 5-4
  • Ellington led BW with 11 of his 16 on the night
  • Freshman forward Andrew Griffith (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) grabbed three of his career-high five rebounds on the day
  • Capital shot 61% from beyond the arch

Second Half (Capital 94-63)

  • The Yellow Jackets scored seven straight thanks to senior guard Lian Levesque (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark), Potopsky, and Madigan
  • Madigan scored all six of his points
  • Freshman guard Avery Young (Sheffield Village/Brookside) scored his first collegiate points in the last minute
