Men's Basketball Drops OAC Bout with Heidelberg

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell to Heidelberg University in a matchup between Ohio Athletic Conference opponents by a score of 92-70 inside the Seiberling Gymnasium.

BW Leaders (5-11, 2-7 OAC)

  • Freshman forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and two blocks
  • Sophomore guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) led BW in scoring with 15 points, additionally he grabbed three rebounds
  • Sophomore guard Myles Reynolds (Cleveland/St. Edward) recorded his fifth double-digit game of the season with 12 points
Heidelberg Leaders (11-5, 7-2 OAC)
  • Freshman forward Carter Pleiman finished with a game-high 17 points, while also recording six rebounds
  • Junior guard Isiah Young added 15 points for the Student Princes
  • Junior forward Zachary Chatman produced off the bench with 13 points and four rebounds

First Half (HU 50-35)

  • Isiah Young got the scoring starting with a layup on the first possession of the game
  • Gameplay went back and forth during the opening minutes as the Yellow Jackets took their biggest lead of the night 15-12 with a layup from freshman guard Caden Madigan (Wadsworth)
  • Heidelberg ended the half on a 9-0 run in the final 1:51 to extend their lead
  • The Student Princes shot a blistering 7-13 from beyond the arc
  • BW edged Heidelberg on the offensive glass battle 7-6

Second Half (HU 92-70)

  • Freshman guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) started the scoring off in the second half with a three-point basket
  • The Student Princes extended their lead from the 18:21 mark until the 13:39 mark with a 12-4 run 
  • Heidelberg spread the ball around the floor with thirteen assists 
  • The Yellow Jackets forced seven Heidelberg turnovers
  • Freshman guard Maxx Dickinson (Medina/Brunswick) scored his first collegiate points with 2 free throws late in the game

The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 20 as they travel to New Concord for an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Muskingum University on the Performance Court inside the Anne C. Steele Center. at 1 p.m.
