Brown ’12 Named Football Offensive Line Coach

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Head Football Coach Jim Hilvert has announced the addition of Matt Brown '12 as an offensive line coach to his staff in 2023.

"I am very excited to have Matt Brown join the BW football staff," said Hilvert. "He brings a lot of experience as offensive line coach and is a great fit.  Matt and his wife Jen, who is also a 2012 BW graduate, are jacked up to be back in Berea and at their alma mater."

Brown returns to his alma mater after serving the past seven seasons as the offensive coordinator at Hanover (Ind.) College, including the past season as the wide receivers and tight ends coach.  He served as the offensive line coach for six seasons and was a recruiting coordinator, director of football operations and video coordinator. He helped guide the Panthers to three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) championships and mentored 40 All-HCAC offensive players, including the 2019 HCAC Offensive Player of the Year.

"Receiving the offer to return to Baldwin Wallace was an offer I couldn't refuse," stated Brown.  "I am thrilled to continue my coaching career at my alma mater and excited for what the next chapter holds.  I want to thank Coach Hilvert and Director of Athletics Steve Thompson for offering me a chance to come home."

Prior to Hanover, Brown was an offensive line coach, recruiting coordinator, director of football operations and director of intramurals at Franklin (Ind.) College for three years. During his time at Franklin, he helped guide the Grizzlies to the HCAC Championship each season and mentored 13 All-HCAC offensive selections.

Before Franklin, Brown was a tight ends coach, assistant special teams coordinator and assistant recruiting coordinator for one season at Ohio Wesleyan University.  He helped lead the Battling Bishops to a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship in 2012 and coached an All-North Region third-team tight end.

Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts in integrated social studies and history from BW.  He was a member of the football team for four seasons, including earning a varsity letter and serving as a student-assistant coach.
