WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University football team has been picked to finish second by the Ohio Athletic Conference coaches as announced in the annual OAC Preseason Poll.

BW, who was picked sixth in 2021 and finished tied for second in the league, was selected the runner-up with 71 points, including one first place vote.  Defending OAC Champion the University of Mount Union was the unanimous first place choice with 81 points and nine first place votes.  Heidelberg University was slated third with 65 points and crosstown rival John Carroll University was tabbed fourth with 59 points.   Rounding out the top five was Marietta College with 44 points.

The Yellow Jackets and sixth-year head coach Jim Hilvert return 54 letterwinners, 12 starters, three All-OAC players and three Academic All-OAC selections from last year's squad that tied for second in the OAC with an overall record of 8-2 and a 7-2 mark in the league.

BW opens the 2022 campaign on September 3 when it travels to Cincinnati for its lone non-conference game against Mount St. Joseph University.  The OAC opener is on September 10 when the Yellow Jackets travel to Wilmington to take on Wilmington College.  The home opener is on September 24 when the team hosts an OAC game against Ohio Northern University.
