BALDWIN WALLACE ATHLETICS INFORMATION:   Cory Waite will play his fourth season of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University in the spring of 2014. He is a two-year letterman and a returning Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference pitcher.  Cory missed most of the 2013 season with an injury.

ACADEMIC HONORS: As a junior in 2012-2013, Cory was named Academic All-OAC and inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Athletics Honor Society.  He also is a Dean's List student who carries a 3.54 grade point average.

ATHLETIC HONORS: As a freshman in 2009-2010, Cory received the Most Outstanding Freshman Award, which is decided on by his teammates.

GENERAL BASEBALL INFORMATION:   Cory Waite has played three seasons of baseball and has helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 71-43 record, including two straight seasons (2012 and 2013) when BW set and then tied the single-season school-record for victories at 27 and had back-to-back 27-13 marks.

He enters his senior season with a 1-2 career record with two saves in 34 career appearances, including 30 in relief. He has a 3.19 career earned run average (ERA) and 43 strikeouts in 53.2 career innings pitched.

As a freshman in 2010-2011, Cory competed in his first season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He appeared in 10 games out of the bullpen and compiled a 0-0 record with one save, a 2.70 earned run average (ERA) and 13 strikeouts in 16 and two thirds innings. For his efforts, he earned the Freshman of the Year award as voted on by the players. B-W finished 17-17 overall.

As a sophomore in 2011-2012, Cory played in his second season of baseball and earned his second letter. He tied B-W's single-season appearances record with 18 (broken a year later by teammate Dylan Fodor). He compiled a 0-0 record with a save and a 1.66 earned run average and struck out 18 batters in 21 and two-thirds innings pitched. Cory helped B-W win a school-record 27 games finish 27-13 overall.

As a junior in 2012-2013, Cory played his third season of baseball and was injured and had to miss the rest of the season. He may receive a medical red-shirt.  Cory appeared in six games, including four starts, and compiled a 1-2 record with a 5.87 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 15 and one-third innings pitched. BW again won a school-record 27 games finish 27-13 overall.

As a senior in 2013-2014, Cory will play his fourth season of baseball and look to earn his third varsity letter.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION:   Cory Waite grew up in Willoughby, Ohio and graduated from Willoughby South High School.

He played baseball for four years and earned two varsity letters.  He also played football, wrestled and ran cross country for one season each, but did not earn a letter.

In baseball as a senior, Cory was named to the Greater Cleveland All-Star team and was selected as a Lake County News-Herald Player of the Week.

In the classroom, Cory was on the Honor roll and was Student of the Month. He also received the Willoughby Baseball Scholarship and the Eaton Family Credit Union Scholarship.
