With the win, the Yellow Jackets improved to 19-6 overall while the Yeomen fell to 16-14 overall.
The game would remain tied until the top of the seventh when the Yellow Jackets would score what turned out to be the game winning run on two hits. Freshman first baseman Kyle Chontos (Pickerington/North) reached first on a two-out single to left field and would advance to second on a passed ball. Sophomore second baseman Brad Gugliotta (Twinsburg) came into pinch hit and drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single to right field.
The B-W offense scored the two runs on eight hits and was led by freshman designated hitter Zach Ferster (Olmsted Falls) as he went 2-for-2 with a double. Chontos, Gugliotta, freshman third baseman Eric Murphy (Brook Park/Midpark), junior centerfielder Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria), Toughey and Yost each added a base hit each.
On the mound, senior Brett Edmonds (Olmsted Falls) he tossed his first collegiate complete game. Edmonds pitched nine innings and allowed just one run on nine hits with three strikeouts and no walks. His complete-game effort lowered his earned run average from 9.90 to 4.42 overall.
