Women's Outdoor Track Team Places Fifth at Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished fifth at the Marv Frye Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the George Gautier Track at Selby Stadium. 

The Yellow Jacket women scored 68 points to place fifth of 13 schools and was led by junior All-American thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston).

Gallavan led the women with a winning throw of 142'6" in the discus and placed third in the hammer at 156'8". Although her discus throw was the eighth-best in Division III this spring, Gallavan already owns the second-best toss at 147'6" two weeks ago at the UNC-Charlotte 49er Invitational.

In addition to Gallavan in the throws, junior Maggie Urban (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy) was second in the hammer at 167'8" for the ninth-best throw in Division III, and sophomore Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/ Western Reserve) was second in the discus at 132'6".

In other field events, junior Marissa Hellisz (Parma/ Normandy) was third in the long jump at 16'2.25", fourth in the triple jump at 32'10.5" and tied for fourth in the high jump at 4'9.75". She also ran the anchor leg of the fourth place 4x100-meter relay team. Junior Abby Snow (Massillon/ Jackson) was fourth in the javelin at 105'4" and sixth in the triple jump at 32'9".

In the running events, Hellisz was joined on the fourth place relay team that finished in 51.42 seconds by junior Cheryl Bell (Piqua), sophomore Lyndsey Armstrong (Ashtabula/ Geneva) and sophomore Katie Richter (Canfield).  Armstrong also placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.08 seconds.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 11 when it returns to Delaware to compete at the annual All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. Field events begin at 11 a.m.
