Winters Earns Third Consecutive and Fifth Career OAC Indoor Track Weekly Honor

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University All-American pentathlete Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) has been named as the Ohio Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week. 

Winters has now won the OAC indoor track weekly honor for the third consecutive week and for the fifth time in her illustrious career.  

Winters won the five-event pentathlon at the All-Ohio Division III Combined Events Championships hosted by Denison University in the Mitchell Fieldhouse.  She won three of the five events and scored a career-high, school-school and Mitchell Fieldhouse record 3,589 points.  Winters won the long jump with a Mitchell Fieldhouse record leap of of 18 feet and 5.25 inches, won the high jump with an indoor career-best of leap of 5'6" and captured the 60-meter hurdles in 8.99 seconds .   She took third in the shot put (31' 7.25") and was sixth in the 800-meter (2:37.08).  

The BW track team is back in action this Friday, February 13 when it hosts the annual Mid-February Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center at 4 p.m.  On Saturday, February 14, the Yellow Jackets will travel to Westerville to compete in the All-OHio Division III Championships hosted by Otterbein University in the Clements Recreation Center at 12 p.m.
