BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Melanie Winters is the most celebrated female student-athlete in Baldwin Wallace University history. She is a seven-time NCAA Division III All-American.

She competed in her third season of indoor (winter) and outdoor (spring) track at BW in 2014-2015.

The 7-time All-American is one of the best pentathletes (five events) indoors and heptathletes (seven events) outdoors in Division III.

SEVEN-TIME DIVISION III ALL-AMERICAN:  As a sophomore, Melanie earned Division III All-American honors indoors in the long jump (third) and outdoors in the high jump (fourth).

As a junior in 2014-2015, she earned All-American honors indoors in the pentathlon (second) and outdoors in the long jump (third), high jump (fourth), 200-meter dash (fifth) and 100-meter hurdles (sixth).

SCHOOL & TRACK RECORDS SET:  Melanie owns seven indoor and four outdoor school records as well as two indoor Harrison Dillard Track marks. 

 The indoor school records are an 8.24-second timing in the 55-meter hurdles, an 8.80-second timing in the 60-meter hurdles, a 7.29-second timing in the 55-meter dash, a 7.74-second timing in the 60-meter dash, a 25.46-second timing in the 200-meter dash, a leap of 19'4" in the long jump and scoring 3,589 points in the pentathlon (five events). 

 The outdoor records are a 24.62 timing in the 200-meter dash, leaping 5'8" in the high jump and 19'5.25" in the long jump and scoring 4,865 points in the heptathlon (seven events).

HARRISON DILLARD TRACK RECORDS:   Melanie set Harrison Dillard Track (indoors) records in the 55-meter hurdles (8.24 seconds in 2015) and long jump (18'11.25" in 2015).

DIVISION III ALL-OHIO RECORDS:   As a junior in 2014-2015, Melanie set All-Ohio Meet indor records in the pentathlon (3,589 points), 60-meter hurdles (8.80 seconds) and the long jump (19'4"). She also set the outdoor record in the heptathlon (4,865 points).

OAC WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:   Melanie has earned the OAC Track Athlete of the Week award 12 times so far in her career: seven times indoors (twice as a sophomore and an OAC-record five straight weeks as a junior) and five times outdoors (twice as a freshman, twice as a sophomore and once as a junior).

INDOOR TRACK HONORS:   As a sophomore in 2013-2014, she was an NCAA Division III All-American by placing third at the 2014 NCAA Div. III Championship Meet in the long jump. She also was named as the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field/ Cross Country Coaches Association) Division III Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year and was the Ohio Athletic Conference Fred Razik Award winner at the Indoor Championship Meet.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Melanie earned Div. III All-American honors in the pentathlon (second) and was the USTFCCA Div. III Great Lakes Region Most Valuable Track Athlete AND Most Valuable Field Athlete. It marks the first time that this has ever been accomplished (winning both awards in the same season).

OUTDOOR TRACK ALL-AMERICAN & OAC HONORS:  As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Melanie earned NCAA Division III All-American honors by placing fourth in the high jump at the NCAA Div. III Championship Meet. She also was the OAC Sprinter of the Year.

INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD INFORMATION:  As a freshman in 2012-2013, Melanie competed in her first season of indoor track. She competed as a pentathlete. She had season-bests of 7.95 seconds in the 55-meter dash, a school-record 8.38 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles, a school-record 9.25 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, a leap of 5'5" in the high jump, a team-best leap of 17'10.25" in the long jump, a throw of 28'4.5" in the shot put.  

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Melanie competed in her second season of indoor track. Melanie was an NCAA Division III All-American by placing third at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Indoor Championship Meet in the long jump. She was named as the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field/ Cross Country Coaches Association) Division III Great Lakes Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year. At the 2014 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championship Meet, she earned the Fred Razik Most Valuable Field Athlete award.  She earned her third OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week award for her effots at the All-Ohio Division III Multi-Event Meet at Denison. She earned her fourth OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week honor for her efforts at the Kent State University Tune-Up Meet. She had career-bests of 7.74 seconds in the 60-meter dash, 8.83 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, 2:35.97 in the 800-meter run, 19'3.25" in the long jump, 32'0.75" in the shot put and 3,509 points in the pentathlon.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Melanie competed in her third season of indoor track. She earned her third Division III All-American honor in the pentathlon (second) and participated in the high jump (13th). She earned OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week honors for an OAC-record five consecutive weeks. Melanie earned it on January 26, 2015 as she won three events, including setting a Harrison Dillard Track record in the long jump with a leap of 18'11.25", at the Mid-January Meet on Jan. 23. She earned OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week honors on February 2, 2015 as she won three events, including setting a school and Harrison Dillard Track record in the 55-meter hurdles (8.24 seconds) and a BW mark in the 55-meter dash (7.29 seconds) at the OAC North Split Squad Meet on Jan. 30. She earned OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week honors on Feb. 9 as she broke her own school-record with 3,589 points at the All-Ohio Championship Multi-Event Meet at Denison on Feb. 7-8. She earned OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week honors on Feb. 16 as she won four events, set two school and two All-Ohio Meet records at the All-Ohio Championship Meet. She earned OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week honors on Feb. 23 as she set one school-record (200-meter dash in 25.46 seconds) and tied another at the Kent State University Tune-up Meet on Feb. 21. At the All-Ohio Championship Meet, she won five events. At the OAC Championship Meet, she won three events and placed second in two others. Mealnie was the USTFCCA Div. III Great Lakes Region Most Valuable Track Athlete AND Most Valuable Field Athlete. It marks the first time that this has ever been accomplished (winning both awards in the same season).

As a senior in 2015-2016, Melanie is competing in her fourth season of indoor track.

OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD INFORMATION:  As a freshman in 2012-2013, Melanie ran her first season of outdoor track and earned her first varsity letter. Melanie was named OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week for her achievements at North Carolina-Charlotte (N.C.) 49er Invitational Meet. She earned OAC Women's Track Performer of the Week for her efforts at the annual Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Melanie ran her second season of outdoor track and earned her second letter. She earned her second All-American award by placing fourth in the high jump with a school-record-tying leap of 5'8". She earned OAC Track Performer of the Week honors at the North Carolina-Charlotte (N.C.) 49er Invitational Meet. She earned OAC Track Performer of the Week honors at the Marietta College Don Frail Invitational Meet. At the 2014 OAC Championship Meet, Melanie was the OAC Sprinter of the Year. She won the heptathlon, 100-meter hurdles, long jump and the 200-meter dash and placed second in the high jump. She qualified for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet in four events: high jump, long jump, 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash. She placed 20th in the long jump and did not qualify for the finals in the 100 hurdles and 200 dash. She had career-bests of 12.88 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 24.81 seconds in the 200 dash, 2:28.45 in the 800-merer run, 14.22 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 5'8" in the high jump, 19'0" in the long jump, 96'9" in the javelin and 4,743 points in the heptathlon.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Melanie competed in her third season of outdoor track and earned her third letter. She set a BW school-record in the heptathlon at the All-Ohio Multi-Event Meet at Mt. Union with 4,865 points on April 3-4, 2015 and earned OAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors on April 6. Melanie was named as the OAC Field Athlete of the Year for her performance at the OAC Championship Meet. She set school records in the 200-meter dash (24.68 seconds) in the prelimins of the NCAA National Championships on May 21 and the long jump (19'5.25") at the North Central (Ill.) College Gregory Meet on May 16. At the 2015 Div. III Outdoor National Meet, she earned All-American honors four times and scored 18 points. She placed third in the long jump (19'1.75"), fourth in the high jump (5'6.5"), fifth in the 200-meter dash (a school-record 24.42 seconds) and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (a career-best 14.16 seconds).
