Three Women Track Competitors Qualify for NCAA Division III National Meet

BEREA, Ohio --  Three members of the Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team have qualified for the 2015 NCAA Division III National Track & Field Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University on Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 in Canton, New York.

The three women are junior three-time Division III All-American heptathlete/ sprinter/ hurdler Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls), junior All-American shot put and discus performer Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Kenston) and junior hammer thrower Maggie Urban (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy).  The top-22 women and Top-20 men in each event qualify.

Winters is qualified in four events: the 100-meter hurdles (fifth/ 14.19 seconds), 200-meter dash (15th/ school-record 24.71 seconds), long jump (third/ school-record 19'5.25") and high jump (tied for sixth/ 5'7.75"). She also was qualified in the seven-event heptathlon (school-record 4,865 points), but decided to compete in the individual events. Gallavan is qualified in the discus (tied for first/ 160'0") and shot put (eighth/ 46'6.75"). She also just missed qualifying in the hammer throw (23rd/ 167'4"). Urban is qualified in the hammer throw (seventh/ school-record 179'0").

Sophomore Kasey Clouse (Norwalk/ Western Reserve) narrowly missed making the meet in the discus (23rd/ 142'3").
