Winters Qualifies in Hurdles, Urban Takes 20th in Hammer on Day 2 of NCAA Championships

CANTON, N.Y. – Junior two-time All-American multi-event athlete Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and OAC Champion Maggie Urban (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) represented the Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team on the second day of competition at the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University on the Merrick-Pinkard Track Complex.

The Yellow Jacket women stand in third place of 35 teams with 12 points and are 12 points behind Illinois Wesleyan in first place after day two.

Winters had the second fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles of 14.27  Winters will look to earn her three more All-American accolades when she competes in finals of the high jump, 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash on Saturday.

Urban placed 20th of 22 competitors in the hammer with a throw of 160 feet and two inches.

Winters will be joined by All-American thrower Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/Kenston) as both compete on the third and final day of the NCAA Championships on Saturday, May 23.  Gallavan will compete in the finals of the shot put.
