Gallavan Sets OAC Record, BW Third After Day One of OAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships

BEXLEY, Ohio –  The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team stands in third place after the first day of competition at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet hostedby Capital University in the Capital Center.

The Yellow Jackets are third of 10 teams with 30 points.  Defending OAC Champs the University of Mount Union lead the women's standings after the first day.  The top three competitors and top three relay teams earn All-OAC honors.

The women were led by junior All-Americans Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township / Kenston) and Melanie Winters (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) who each took home an OAC Championship.

Gallavan set the OAC-record and school-record in the weight throw with a winning toss of 58 feet and one inch.  She will compete in the shot put on the final day of competition.

Winters won the long jump with a leap of 18-feet and six inches.  She also qualified for the finals in the 60-meters hurdles, the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.  Winters had the fastest qualifying times in the 60-meter hurdles (8.95) and the 60-meter dash (7.91).  She had the second fastest qualifying time in the 200-meter in a time of 26.00.

The Yellow Jackets are back close out the OAC Championship on Saturday, February 28 at 10:00 a.m. The NCAA Division III National Championship is on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina hosted by Roanoke (Va.) College.
