Winters Concludes Stellar Junior Campaign with USTFCCCA All-Academic Honor

Complete USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Honorees

BEREA, Ohio  – Baldwin Wallace University junior All-American multi-event Melanie Winters (Stow-Stow-Munroe Falls) concludes her stellar third season as she earns United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors. Winters joins 419 other Division III women student-athletes to garner the award.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards:
  • Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
  • Finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
Winters, who maintains a 3.39 grade point average in English, is a two-time All-American indoor performer and a five-time All-American outdoor performer.  She earned her indoor honors in the long jump and pentathlon while claiming outdoor honors in the high jump on two occasions, long jump, 200-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles.  Winters has also been named as the USTFCCCA Division III Great Lakes Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and was the OAC Fred Razik Award winner in 2014 and the USTFCCA Division III Great Lakes Region Indoor Most Valuable Track Athlete and Most Valuable Field Athlete in 2015.  She has been selected as the OAC Outdoor Sprinter of the Year in both 2014 and 2015.
 

Winters owns seven indoor and four outdoor school records as well as two Harrison Dillard Track indoor marks. The indoor school records are an in the 55-meter hurdles, which is also the Harrison Dillard Track record, the 60-meter hurdles, the 55-meter dash, the 60-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the long jump and the pentathlon. The outdoor records are in the 200-meter dash, the high jump and the long jump and heptathlon.  The other Harrison Dillard Track record is in the long jump.  In addition, she also holds three indoor and one outdoor All-Ohio Division III Championships records.  Winters holds the indoor records in the pentathlon, 60-meter hurdles and the long jump and outdoors in the heptathlon.
