BW Women Compete at Kent State Tune-Up Meet

KENT, Ohio –  Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University women's track team competed at the annual Kent State University Tune-Up Meet in the Fieldhouse.  The meet is unscored and utilized as a platform for Yellow Jacket student-athletes to better or improve their season's best in an effort to qualify for the 2015 NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet.

BW was led by junior Division III All-American multi-event student-athlete Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) who finished sixth in the field of mostly NCAA Division I runners and set a school-record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.46 seconds.  She tied her own school-record with a 7.74-second timing in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash. She finished third in the finals with a time of 7.76 seconds. She also was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.73 seconds.

In addition, junior All-American Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Kenston) had a season-best of 56-feet and eight and one-half inches (56'8.45") to place sixth in the weight throw and she was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 43'11.75". 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 27-28 when theycompete at the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet at Capital University.
