BW Individuals Compete at ONU Last Chance Meet

ADA, Ohio – Six Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's track and field individuals competed at the Ohio Northern University "Last Chance" Indoor Meet in the ONU Sports Center. Two Yellow Jackets, junior women's Division III All-American Kim Gallavan (Auburn Township/ Chagrin Falls Kenston) and junior men's thrower Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/ Riverside), bettered their NCAA standing at the meet.

Gallavan will compete at the national meet in the shot put and weight throw.  The 2015 OAC Field Athlete of the Year placed first in the shot put with a career-best throw of 46'4", which ranks 10th in Division III. Sophomore Casey Clouse (Norwalk/ Western Reseve) was seventh with a throw of 35'8.5".

In the weight throw, Gallavan was second with a throw of 56'2". It was 1'9" off of her school-record of 58'1" which currently ranks fourth in Division III. In addition, junior Maggie Urban(Cleveland/ St. Joseph's Academy) was fifth with a throw of 48'1.25" and Clouse was seventh with a throw of 46'1.5".

 will be joined at the Div. III national meet by junior All-American Melanie Winters(Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls), who will compete uin the five-event pentathlon and in the high jump.Winters is currently ranked nationally in six events. She is first in the pentathlon (a school-record 3,599 points), first in the long jump (a school-record 19'4", tied for fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in a school-record 8.80 seconds, tied for eighth in the 200-meter dash (25.46 seconds), tied for 12th in the 60-meter dash (in a school-record 7.74 seconds) and tied for 15th in the high jump (an indoor  career-best 5/6").

The NCAA Division III National Championship Meet is this Friday-Saturday, March 13-14 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and hosted by Roanoke (Va.) College.
