Four Yellow Jackets Garner CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 At-Large Honors

BEREA, OHIO --  2012 CAPITAL ONE Academic All-Americans Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) along with men’s tennis players Brad Minrovic (Akron/Ellet) and Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) have been named as 2013 first-team CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District VII At-Large selections. The four student-athletes now qualify for the national CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America At-Large ballot.

Pinter has a 3.83 grade point average in communications disorders.  The senior six-time All-American diver is this year’s Baldwin Wallace Outstanding Senior Female Athlete and Ohio Athletic Conference Clyde Lamb Award recipient.  Pinter is three-time Academic All-OAC selection, six-time OAC champion, three-time OAC Diver-of-the-Year and a seven-time OAC Diver-of-the-Week.  This season, she reset the school records in the one-meter dive at Wilmington College on October 27 and the three-meter dive against Hiram College on November 3.  Pinter was the runner-up at the NCAA Division III National Championships in 2012.

Hamilton, a senior women's golfer who carries a 3.93 grade point average in English, ends an outstanding four-year career and helped BW compile a 225-117-2 record with the two OAC titles and two NCAA tourney berths.    The three-time All-OAC, three-time Academic All-OAC, three-time CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District, two-time National Golf Coaches Association Scholar All-Athlete and 2012 “Elite 89” finalist at the NCAA Division III National Tournament, had her best season in 2012-2013 as she averaged a team and career-low 82.71 strokes average. Hamilton set a career-low in the fall with a 78 and tied it again with another in the spring. She also earned OAC Player of-the-Week honors. During her four seasons, Hamilton played in 42 career tournaments and 74.5 rounds and averaged 87.57 strokes per round.

Minrovic has a 3.77 grade point average in chemistry and pre-med and is making his second straight appearance on the All-District 7 team. The junior is a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete, an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection and Dean’s List student.  This season, Minrovic compiled a 20-6 singles record and a 20-5 doubles mark.  For his career, Minrovic has an overall record of 50-18 in singles action and 52-15 in doubles play.

Patterson, a sophomore who carries a 3.92 grade point average criminal justice, is making his first appearance on the All-District team. He is a two-time All-OAC selection and an OAC Player-of-the-Week.   This season, Patterson went 24-5 in singles play, including a 17-2 mark at number two, and was 20-8 in doubles action. Through two seasons, he is an impressive 51-8 in singles play and has a mark of 40-14 in doubles action. Patterson is just one win shy of cracking BW’s top-20 career singles wins leaders.

Minrovic and Patterson helped the men’s tennis team to a record of  23-1 overall and 8-1 in the OAC.  Over the past two seasons, BW is 52-2 overall and 17-1 in the OAC.
