HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team defeated Gettysburg (P.A.) College, 6-3, today (Sunday, March 10, 2013) on the first day of its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. 

With its victory, BW improves to 10-0 overall and has now won 38 of its last 39 dual matches dating back to last season when it won a school-record 28 matches, finished 28-1 overall, won the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division III National Tournament.  With its loss, Gettysburg falls to 0-2 this season.

BW trailed, 2-1, after doubles play, but won five of six singles matches to secure the victory.  

In doubles, the No. 2 duo of sophomore Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) and junior Brad Minrovic (Akron/ Ellet) beat Mike Pratt and Kyle Shope, 8-5, to improve their overall record to 8-3.

In singles play, Patterson beat Chris Curran, 6-1 and 6-5, to improve his season record to 14-3; at No. 3, senior Alexander Kearney (North Olmsted) beat Pratt, 7-6 and 6-1, and improved his to record to 11-1; at No. 4, freshman Doug Ganim defeated Shope, 6-4 and 6-2, to improve his record to 11-3; at No. 5, Minrovic beat Johnny Nelson, 6-1 and 6-3, and improved his record to 12-3; at No. 6, junior Dan Rowsey (Ashland) defeated Will Ives, 6-3 and 7-6, to improve his record to 4-4. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow versus Edgewood (Wisc.) University at 8:00 a.m. The first northern match is on March 23 at Ohio Wesleyan University.
