BEREA, OHIO -- Senior Joe Horvath (North Royalton) was named the 2012-13 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year and leads a group of four Yellow Jackets who garnered All-OAC mention.  Sophomore Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) and freshman Peter Harris (Akron/Revere) were named to the second team, and senior Alex Kearney (North Olmsted) garnered honorable mention.

Horvath is the sixth Yellow Jacket to be named player of the year, and first since James Daly won the award in 2007 and 2008.

Horvath, who collected All-OAC honors for the fourth straight season, including his second straight first-team nod, finished his career with a 97-11 singles and 89-18 doubles mark.  His 97 singles wins, 89 doubles wins, and 186 combination victories each rank second all-time to Daly (2006-2009).  This season, Horvath went 24-3 in singles play, including a 19-2 mark at No. 1, and was 21-3 in doubles action.

Patterson captured second-team accolades for the second straight season after going 24-5 in singles play, including a 17-2 mark at No. 2, and combining to go 20-8 in doubles action.  Through two seasons, Patterson is just one win shy of cracking BW's top-20 career singles wins leaders.

Harris went 26-3 in singles play, including a perfect 20-0 slate at No. 3, and racked up a 21-9 record in doubles action in his first season as a collegian.

Kearney, who earned All-OAC honors for the first time, collected a 21-3 singles record, including a 15-2 mark at No. 4, and a 22-1 doubles record, including a perfect 16-0 mark at No. 3.  He finished his four-year career, which included one season at OAC rival the University of Mount Union, 85-15 in singles play and 63-14 in doubles action.

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2012-13 campaign 23-1 overall and 8-1 in the OAC, good for second place in the regular season standings.  Over the past two seasons, BW is 52-2 overall and 17-1 in the OAC.
