Kyle Patterson Named OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University sophomore Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) was selected Ohio Athletic Conference men's tennis player of the week for his performance Saturday against NCAA Division II St. Francis (Ind.) University and Defiance College.

Patterson, an All-OAC No. 2 singles and doubles student-athlete, went 2-0 in both singles and doubles play as the Yellow Jackets recorded 9-0 shutouts of St. Francis and Defiance in Defiance and improved to 8-0 overall.

Now 12-3 overall in singles, Patterson defeated St. Francis' Tate Dishman and Defiance's Nelson Ryan by identical 6-0 and 6-1 scores in singles. In doubles, he teamed with junior Brad Minrovic (Akron/ Ellet) at No. 2 to beat St. Francis' Spencer Heise and Jaxson Burkins, 8-2, and Defiance's Craig Bills and Mike Ross, 8-1, as the duo improved to 6-3 overall.  For the day, Patterson won 40 of a possible 45 points (.889).

In addition to excelling on the tennis court, Patterson carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average in criminal justice and was a 2012 ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Scholar-Athlete. He also is on the Dean's List, is a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society and the Campus Crusade for Christ.

The BW men's tennis team returns to the court Sunday, March 10 when it faces Nazareth (N.Y.) in the first of six matches on its annual Spring Break Trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
